Welcome to ASHRAE Pune Chapter

ASHRAE Pune Chapter is part of ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air conditioning Engineers, which is the premier international body in the HVAC & R field.

The ASHRAE was founded in 1894 at a meeting of engineers in New York City, formerly headquartered at 345 East 47th Street, and has held an annual meeting since 1895. Until 1954 it was known as the American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers (ASHVE); in that year it changed its name to the American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE).Its current name and organization came from the 1959 merger of ASHAE and the American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE). As the result, ASHRAE, despite having ‘American’ in its name, is an influential international organization. Amongst other international activities, it helps organize international events. In 2012, ASHRAE rebranded itself with a new logo and tagline: “Shaping Tomorrow’s Built Environment Today”. As of 2015, ASHRAE has more than 53,000 members.

A Message From The President

Dear Members, Friends, and Well-wishers, It is a matter of great honor and responsibility to serve as the President of the ASHRAE Pune Chapter for the Society Year 2025–26. This year, we embrace the theme RAINBOW, which symbolizes not just diversity and vibrance, but also our commitment to a broad spectrum of values that define our professional community. RAINBOW is an acronym that stands for: Refrigeration | Architecture | Indoor Air Quality | New Technologies | Building Automation & Controls | Operations & Maintenance | Wellness Each of these pillars represents a priority area for our chapter as we strive to inspire meaningful technical engagement, foster sustainable practices, and support the next generation of engineers and leaders in the built environment. We began our year with a memorable Installation Ceremony on 18th July 2025, attended by esteemed ASHRAE Fellows, industry leaders, and allied associations. We were privileged to host Mr. Pankaj Dharkar (Director and Regional Chair) as Guest of Honour, and Mr. R. S. Kulkarni (ASHRAE Fellow) as our Installation Officer. Their presence reinforced our commitment to technical excellence and collaborative growth. Looking ahead, we have an exciting year planned, with technical seminars, student outreach, YEA activities, site visits, and flagship events. Most notably, we are proud to announce PARC 2025 – Pune ASHRAE Regional Conference, scheduled for 12th December 2025. This day-long event will bring together Distinguished Lecturers, chapter leaders, policymakers, and practitioners to explore the evolving role of HVAC&R in advancing resilient and sustainable buildings. Our focus this year will be to: Enable short-format, high-impact technical sessions Deepen student and YEA engagement Build industry linkages and strengthen our associate society network Promote research, publications, and government outreach I invite all our members, partners, and stakeholders to join us in this journey. Your support, participation, and ideas are what make ASHRAE Pune a strong and dynamic chapter. As part of our RAINBOW initiative, we are forming focused workgroups around each thematic area. If you are interested in contributing or leading discussions in any of these domains, we encourage you to fill in the Expression of Interest form using the link below: 👉 [Insert Link to Form] Let us move forward together — embracing the full spectrum of opportunities that this RAINBOW year brings.
